It was intimidating when Dr Caroline Klimek and Dr Cyrus Sundar Singh first approached me to see if I was interested in helping them produce (and host) Live Fridays, a live talk show and recorded podcast.
However, I very quickly realised I could not stay intimidated for too long, and had to step up to the plate.
What started as a team of three, with Dr Cyrus Sundar Singh and Dr Caroline Klimek actively guiding and advising me throughout this journey, ended up being a team of 20 or more people.
Each person involved very quickly became absolutely pivotal to the success of the project, with Dr Cyrus Sundar Singh and I leading and overseeing the production.
Live Fridays consisted of three monthly live episodes, featuring guests such as Paul Rowan (Co-Founder of Umbra), Cathy Loblaw (CEO of Harbourfront Centre), Weyni Mengesha (Former Artistic Director of Soulpepper) and more.
My proudest achievement throughout co-leading the production of this podcast is that we, as a collective, never got complacent...
We continuously improved and raised a new standard after every episode. In the first episode, we had an attendance of 60; by the last, we achieved full capacity with 150 people present.
One of the biggest lessons Live Fridays taught me is that alone, you go fast. Together, you go far...
... But most importantly, together you create something that carries far more meaning than you ever could alone.
